All about Margaret

I have 40 years of experience in the travel industry and I joined Miles Morgan Travel in 2013. I’m delighted to be Manager of the Wells branch, and we welcome both brand new and regular customers every day. Travel is an addictive passion of mine – I began travelling the world early in my career and I definitely won’t stop anytime soon! The memories I’ve made are invaluable and irreplaceable, and I encourage every customer to see as much of the world as they can: the experiences to be had are endless, and holidays are such a huge source of happiness. It really is a fantastic industry to be part of.

I’d find it impossible to pin down one favourite destination: I’ve been lucky enough to have travelled far and wide across the world, and have seen many fantastic places, all with their unique identity and charm. However, a handful of incredible travel highlights spring to mind. Sailing on the beautiful Star Clipper across the Andaman Sea, for example, and enjoying a stunning wine tour in the vineyards of Tuscany. In Sri Lanka I took a safari and saw enormous herds of wild elephants, and in Norway I spotted the Northern Lights, which was such a surreal experience. I’ve walked along the Great Wall of China and visited the Terracotta Warriors in one of China’s most famous museums – a fabulous and eye-opening day. I’m also proud to have walked the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru: a testing few days but absolutely worth it for the views.

I hope to continue my travels and research new destinations, with a particular focus on Australia and New Zealand. As the Australia and New Zealand Specialist for Miles Morgan Travel’s Wells branch, I love to put together both independent and individually-tailored itineraries for customers. There’s an abundance to see and do out there, from the lively cities of Sydney and Melbourne to the playground of extreme sports in Queenstown, and incredible wildlife that can’t be found anywhere else on earth. I’ve even arranged a traditional Maori-style wedding in Rotorua for one couple, whose dream was to tie the knot on their travels. If you’re interested in an unforgettable venture across the world, I’d love to help you get there.

I also am really interested in escorted group travel, having escorted cruise groups myself. It’s a pleasure to see like-minded customers from different walks of life joined together through Miles Morgan Travel to enjoy the joys of the world together and make lifelong travel companions. If you’d be interested in joining one of our escorted groups, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Whether it be a safari, a city break, a tour or a cruise, Miles Morgan Travel can cater to any travel dream. I’d be delighted to meet you in our Wells branch and help you find your perfect holiday.

Customer reviews of Margaret

We have been using Miles Morgan for years and have always received excellent service.
Since Covid we have booked several holidays including a special one to Japan and South East Asia with Viking. Margaret has been absolutely marvellous at guiding us through the process, negotiating (in her own quiet way) drinks packages, flights etc. including sorting business class flights and seats for us. She has been indispensable and nothing is too much trouble for her. We have only 33 more days to wait and it can’t come quickly enough. I hope it all goes smoothly and it will be mostly due to Margaret’s diligence and hard work.
We are both very thankful.

Hi Margaret, just wanted to send you a quick Email to thank you sincerely for organising our wonderful holiday so beautifully – it all went without a single hitch, and each hotel was just perfect, thanks to you. The Intercontinental Le Moana in Bora Bora was particularly superb – the best location on the island, with incredibly hospitality and a wonderful atmosphere. YOU MUST GO!!

– Kay & Chris Stables

We had a fantastic time in Essaouira. Everything, flights, transfers, etc., worked perfectly. Lovely warm welcome from the Classic Collection rep and drivers. The Heure Bleue hotel deserves special mention. A touch of colonial excellence and luxury. An oasis of calm and tranquillity on the edge of the busy medina. The staff were absolutely charming and couldn't have been more helpful or attentive. The food was top notch. We even had lovely weather. Needless to say, we could recommend it to others without hesitation Thank you for arranging everything.

Just a quick e-mail to say thanks for your help with booking our family holiday to Yellowstone, San Francisco and Vancouver Island. All the travel went smoothly and we had a great time.

– Andrew

flights you arranged for us to Toronto worked out fantastic – an inspiring and interesting experience for the grand children, many thanks for all your help Margaret, in organising them. We enjoyed our time in the city and the hotel you suggested was in an ideal location. I only wish I knew I should have booked the seats on the train to Woodstock as we got the last 4 seats! Looking forward to our next trip with you in September.

Hello Margaret – hope you had a good trip away. We had a marvellous holiday at the Minos Beach Hotel – it is such a perfect location, with wonderful staff, thank-you so much for listening to us, and knowing just what we wanted – a very special skill. My tall son was particularly grateful for the seats by the exit!

Just returned from 28 nights cruise on Boudicca to Venice, Athens and the Adriatic. This was our first cruise with Fred Olsen and everything worked smoothly, even the sea was calm. Our favourite excursions were at Kotor, Koper and Hvar, unspoilt and interesting destinations. The guide at Athens was very good. Could not fault the food and waiting staff service was brilliant. On board port talks were helpful and my wife enjoyed the dancing opportunities. We were well looked after by your cruise escort Margaret and we enjoyed afternoon tea with her. Thanks very much for a super cruise.

We were thrilled with the display of the Aurora Borealis, it totally surrounded us on the ship, what a wonderful experience. The food on board was of a very good standard and we thoroughly enjoyed the dog sledding, and even visited the ice hotel. The cabins were a little on the small side but we were not in them for long. The free Cathedral concert in Tromso was a great treat with incredible singers and acoustics. Overall, our holiday was just as you described, a great deal on the price, thanks Margaret for all your advice and assistance in planning such a memorable trip

The hotel Victor Hugo was comfortable, convenient and central, easy to walk to the Eiffel Tower. The little square nearby has lovely reasonably priced pavement cafes. The river cruise was brilliant and very relaxing and the metro tickets supplied by Kirker are jolly useful. We did the cycle ride from under the Eiffel Tower which was the best fun and not too strenuous. We used the passes provided to visit the Musee D’Orsay, which had a lot of impressionist paintings and of course the Louvre and the Pompidou for the Picasso’s, but make sure you check the days they are open. Thanks again to Miles Morgan Travel and Kirker for a lovely city break.

Everything worked perfectly and very smooth – from the helicopter ride from Nice to the check in at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco, when we got an upgraded room with balcony and a complementary bottle of wine – thank you. The hotel is comfortable and convenient although some rooms looking a little tired. We enjoyed the museums and using the Monaco pass was easy. Very happy to recommend Kirker – we are going again with them to Paris next month.

We just wanted to let you know that the arrangements went very smoothly. We loved the Riads that Kirker and you recommended, Riad Noga in Marrakech was very special and felt like a little oasis of calm among the busy medina. My only negative comment was that I would not choose to fly Royal air Maroc again, they were badly organised, did not inform us as to why we were delayed and the service on board was poor also. Other than that, the destination was all you promised us and more, my highlight was trekking in the Atlas Mountains with a Berber guide, and then having dinner with his family. Thanks again for a super trip.

- Mr and Mrs Williams

A short note to thank you for your help in arranging our recent holiday to Switzerland. Everything went very smoothly and we much enjoyed the experience. We were also lucky to experience an early snowfall and the autumn colours were very spectacular. We shall hope to repeat the experience next autumn. The hotel Baren in Wilderspil was also a good experience and a good base for walkers – strongly recommended.

- Col & Mrs Robinson

The Calabash hotel was very good value for money – the food is superb and I had lobster many times. They give great attention to details and are a very well organised hotel. I can certainly recommend the Calabash, especially for older clientele, thanks for making everything run smoothly, we will be back! Regards.

We all had a fabulous time on holiday. Thank you so much for organising our trip. It was perfect!

NEW ZEALAND
We loved all the accommodation. The first hotel in Auckland set the standard, it was lovely. All the hotels were perfectly situared for us too. After driving all day, we were delighted to leave the car and be in walking distance of restaurants, pubs etc.

The closest to criticism we could find was when we were charged $10 for parking at Queenstown. Though it was underground and obviously in a safe area. But at least it was just the one night. More a disappointment than anything.

The other disappointment was when we got to the Queenstown Hotel, we only got 30mins free wifi. The other hotels up to that point were unlimited. The 2 hotels after that, Te Anua and Dunedin were in the same chain. So the 30mins rule applied there too.- Never thought I would become a slave to the Internet! How did that happen???- So I guess we got spoiled a little first!

AUSTRALIA
We arrived quite late, so the motel was fine for a quick stop over. Think it came with unlimited wifi, but we were that tired I cant remember now! Lol. The last hotel, think it was Park Royal, it was perfectly situated for airport. We got the shuttle bus into the city no bother. But it had no free wifi at all.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. So apart from the wifi issue and the one parking charge, it couldn't have been any better. I think I filled out some of the hotel comments form to let them know our thoughts.

So thank you once again for organising the perfect holiday for us. I will start saving up my pennies for the next adventure, wherever that may be! I will keep you informed.
