All about Lydia
I started my travel career in 2015, completing a 2-year apprenticeship in Travel and Tourism, and have been with Miles Morgan Travel for just over a year. I was lucky to travel regularly from a young age, and I have so many special childhood memories of family holidays, from feeding alligators in Florida to annual visits to Bulgaria each summer! I definitely think that my passion for the industry grew from these memories, and I’m so grateful that they’ve brought me to my career as a Travel Specialist.
My favourite holidays are usually of the simpler kind; a relaxed week on the Greek Islands with family is my idea of bliss. I find the Greek islands so pretty, with turquoise water, bright blue skies, sweet little towns and gorgeous beaches! Greek food is delicious too, and the locals are wonderful. My favourite island is Zante: it has such versatility, catering to both family beach-breaks and a lively party scene, as well as stunning wildlife and scenery. I’d love to take my daughter there someday soon, to explore the caves and swim with turtles!
Although I do enjoy a laid-back holiday, I’ve certainly had my fair share of action-packed trips too! I would recommend Pila in Italy for a fantastic skiing experience: I’d love to say that I enjoyed the skiing but I sadly wasn’t any good at it, but the snow-covered mountains made for stunning views, and the food was absolutely delicious! I also travelled across France on a 10-day water-sports holiday, which was amazing: I did more swimming than I’ve ever done, and the blue waters were crystal clear which was perfect for snorkelling, and the fish were beautiful too.
One of the most special things about travelling for me, is the people you meet. When I was younger my family and I visited Bulgaria each summer and stayed in an area called Golden Sands. It’s not as tourist-oriented as other areas, but I personally prefer that it’s off the beaten track! The beaches are lovely, and there are a wide variety of restaurants, shops and plenty of entertainment to keep the summer holidays interesting. It’s also brilliant value for money, so I’d recommend it to families. The part that I loved most, though, is that we went regularly enough to become familiar with the locals and made friendships that are still strong today! We often visit them and they have visited us in England too. Bulgaria is like a second home to me, and I’m really grateful for my summer memories there.
Cruising is a new venture for me, but one that I’ve loved so far. I took a 14-night Mediterranean cruise and had a magical time. The ocean was smooth and a beautiful blue, and the itinerary covered many lovely ports-of-call: Lisbon, Barcelona and Gibraltar to name a few! My favourite was definitely Barcelona. I don’t usually opt for city break holidays but it really opened my eyes to what they can offer, as I loved the sightseeing, marvelling over the fabulous architecture and artwork of the infamous cathedral! I’d definitely recommend cruising as a way of ticking off many bucket-list cities at once.
Next on my list? My dream would be to explore the Caribbean islands. The beaches are meant to have the silkiest sands, the scenery looks gorgeous and I’ve heard the food is amazing too. I’d also love to do an Alaskan cruise, taking in the wonderful views from a balcony, and to visit Japan and see some pretty cherry blossoms.
I love helping to make customers’ dreams come true, from bucket-list trips to honeymoons, first family holidays and special occasions. Building bonds with customers and contributing to their memories makes me really happy, so I look forward to meeting you soon.
