Lydia was "spoilt for choice" in Sardinia

lydiaintro

I was fortunate enough to travel to Sardinia with many other travel specialists at Miles Morgan Travel as well as 2 members of the team at Classic Collection.

The trip started with an early flight from London Gatwick directly to Cagliari where we met with Kim and Jorge who provided our boarding passes, itinerary and wallet. The flight to Sardinia was just over 2 hours although it went so quickly, everyone was so excited. On arrival we were then greeted by our private transfer drivers who picked us up in modern lovely cars which really set the standard of the whole holiday. All drivers dressed very smartly and loaded our luggage into the vehicles where we then started our journey to Forte Village.

Once we arrived, George who works at the hotel welcomed us with the biggest smile and explained that the treatment we were receiving from the staff was exactly how all customers were treated which was amazing.

The first thing we done when we arrived was to collect our room key where we were given some nibbles and a cold glass of wine. As soon as I had my key, I made our way to our room where the excitement of seeing your room for the first time did not disappoint! The room was beautiful, the view was amazing and the smell that greeted you was amazing.

We all freshened up and met at the main reception for a small debrief to explain what was to come for the next few days where we then made our way to the Pizzeria to eat many different pizzas and fresh salad. After that we started our first hotel visit where we really experienced the luxury of Forte Village. From rooms with the best sea views, private pools and jacuzzis and private villas so big it was like home. One thing everyone complimented was the fresh aromas that changed in every room you entered which really completed them.

Moving on from the accommodations we explored the children’s areas where they even had a Barbie house that would make any child’s holiday a dream. With all versions of Barbie, to Barbie beauty areas, Barbie reception, Barbie living room and a play area to play with everything Barbie! Although there was so much to offer for children, they were in their own area away from other amenities so that the children could really enjoy their own world. As the first night came to an end, we went back to our rooms to get ready for our first evening meal at Le Dune set upon the beach front and ate a few different food options and beverages whilst we all discussed the day.

As I woke on day two the subtle sounds of the waves crashing and the pianist from the restaurant below really got me in the holiday mood, so I made my way down for a lovely breakfast at the Cavalieri where they offered so many different things. Whether you wanted a big plate of eggs, beans, bacon etc or something lighter like a yogurt with fruit, you were spoilt for choice.

Personally, this day was my favourite as we went to the Acquaforte Spa. I feel my feedback from this trip really would be that yes, Forte Village is perfect for everyone although I feel there is a huge part for those who need to recharge. The spa was honestly the best experience I have ever had from the moment you come through the entrance you are surrounded in nature and the simpleness of life. Again, the aroma relaxes you almost immediately but the interior and layout throughout really made this spa ‘one of a kind’. The walkways were nestled upon the greenery and the different rooms were in private areas where you felt immediately calmed.

Fortunately, we got to experience a 90-minute Thalasso Experience which we honestly were so lucky to do. This experience included a circuit of 6 pools being Sea Oil, Aloe and Mint, Salt, Energy, Balance and Wellbeing. From pools you could float to pools covering the floor in salt. The experience was unmatched. Following our spa morning we went for lunch again at the pizzeria where this time we had the best pasta with a side of salad to then make our way to the Go- karting.

Go-Karting was so much fun, the thrill of driving around and racing each other really brought the children out of us all and made this the perfect end to such a wonderful day. On our second night we ate at the Sardinian restaurant where we all dressed up and really started to get into it after such an amazing day. I tried some foods I had never tried before, and I must say I’m glad I did! The food again was beautiful, the wine was refreshing, and the company was perfect.

Day 3 was time for us to explore for ourselves once we had finished our cooking class. Forte Village provided Chefs hats, aprons and a notebook to start our pizza lessons. We made our dough into a pizza shape and selected our favourite toppings for the Chefs to then place them in the stone oven to crisp them up perfectly – we then enjoyed our own pizzas.

After cooking we made use of the sun loungers on the beach and visited some pools. After a little while in the sun, me and another travel specialist decided it was time for a refreshment in the sports bar on route to the water park. With slides for all ages and a splash park for the younger children but we were the only people there to begin with, so we made use of everything! Our final evening meal Fastly approached although they really did save the best till last – the Brazilian restaurant. With every meat you could imagine you were spoilt for choice.

Our final day had arrived, and it was only right to start the day at 0545 to experience the most beautiful sunrise. As the sun came up, I had time to really reflect on my time at Forte Village whether it be the friendliness and service of the staff, the endless choice of food or the views and weather or even the thought of not having another day there – I really felt so grateful for the whole experience.

To bring the trip to an end we passed through Palazzo Doglio on our way to the airport where again the standards followed throughout the hotel as it did Forte Village but offered a slightly different vibe being the perfect Sardinian city break. After this, we were greeted again by our private transfers and taken to the airport where we awaited our flight back home.

Overall Forte Village really is perfect for everyone of all ages. If you’re wanting some luxury and relaxations, a romantic trip away or even the perfect family holiday this hotel is for all. I could not recommend this enough and thank you for the opportunity to experience Sardinia at its best. Hopefully I will return soon with my daughter who cannot believe I couldn’t take her with me!

Why not try it for yourselves... Please send me an email [email protected], call me on 01452 345100 or come in and see me in our Gloucester store.
