9th June 2017: If you’re looking for beautiful beaches and glorious sunshine, coupled with lavish hotels and fantastic customer service, look no further than Dubai. Just a seven hour flight away, the ever-changing city of Dubai offers you a completely different trip every time you travel.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many destinations across the world and when the opportunity to travel to Dubai came up, I couldn’t resist adding it to my travel list. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius; quite humid but bearable, especially as most buildings are fully air conditioned.
Why Dubai?
You’ll never get bored on a trip here, there is just too much to see and do. From the more traditional shopping, botanical gardens and tours to the not so traditional gold markets and visits to record breaking buildings. If sightseeing isn’t for you, Dubai's beaches are impeccable, couple this with a few cocktails or a massage and it won’t be long before you reach ultimate relaxation.
Hotels
With so many wonderful and lavish hotels to choose from in Dubai, it’s not hard to see why Dubai is so popular with holidaymakers; the bigger, the better here. My time in Dubai was spent exploring many of these fascinating resorts and the one which stood out for me the most just has to be the Ritz Carlton. Modern in design, the Ritz Carlton is sleek, classic and its attention to detail is seen throughout. What stood out the most for me was how much local culture is seen within its décor; gorgeous patterns and colours are perfectly combined.
Top Tip
It doesn’t really matter where you stay in Dubai as many hotels here are just a 20 minute taxi ride to the city’s centre.
Dress Codes
Whilst I was slightly nervous of the dress and alcohol codes I needn’t have been. Many days I wore sundresses and vest tops, however you must cover up if visiting sacred places such as mosques. Drinking alcohol within the hotels I visited was absolutely fine.
Combine Dubai with Elsewhere
For me, I feel the perfect trip to Dubai would be best combined with a stay in Ras Al Khaimah; I’d recommend the Al Wadi Desert; oozing style and sophistication this hotel is great for couples and families alike as many rooms are completely detached and there’s a wealth of activities to try here. While a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Al Wadi Desert allows you to take the time to simply relax!
Final Thoughts
Overall, I feel Dubai is incredible. Filled with stunning hotels, an amazing standard of food and service (excellent without being stuffy) and so much to see and do, Dubai is the ideal place for not just a city break, but also a longer holiday or even a stopover city before moving on to places like the Maldives or Australia.
