Having just returned from Mauritius I want to share with you my experiences of this beautiful island. We left Heathrow on our 12- hour direct flight with Air Mauritius. I was very impressed with the service, seat pitch and the choice of meals available.
On arrival into Mauritius we were met and transferred to the beautiful Maradiva Villa Resort where we stayed for one night. Each individual villa has its own private pool and the rooms and furnishings were stunning. This resort certainly has the WOW factor and even though the hotel was full you were never aware of any other guests, therefore it’s an excellent choice for honeymoons and anyone looking for peace and tranquillity.
The next morning took us to Sugar Beach, which was one of my favourite hotels. This is a beautiful 5* resort set within palm-flecked manicured gardens. Situated on the lovely beach of Flic- en- Flac, Sugar Beach has a beautiful oceanfront lagoon pool.
In the evening we stayed at The Oberoi. This hotel is delightful and the service is one of the best that we received. Our evening meal was just amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience here. The rooms at the Oberoi were certainly stunning with a sunken bath and separate shower overlooking an open air walled garden and the ocean - WOW!
Another of my favourite hotels was The Heritage Le Telfair and The Heritage Awali, sister hotels that have a 18-hole championship golf course on their doorstep. I loved the Heritage Telfair with its elegant romanticism, beautiful colonial architecture and delectable fine dining, which all serve to reinforce its status as a well-deserved member of the Small Hotels of the World group.
Mauritius is a wonderful mix of African, Indian, European and Oriental influences. This island is more than just white sands, although there is no denying that it is home to some of the most stunning beaches in the world. Sugar cane fields give way to lush mountains rising from crystal clear waters.
Mauritius is a great destination if you appreciate truly wonderful cuisine with flavours from all over the world. Mauritius makes for a romantic exotic honeymoon destination with idyllic resorts in breath-taking beachfront locations. Lots of the hotels also offer wedding packages for those of you who want to get married on the island.
During my stay I visited lots of other hotels, far too many to mention, so please give me a call or call into the office for a chat.
