Day 1
We flew from Gatwick to Venice Marco Polo airport and after a very short flight of 1hour 50 minutes we arrived where we were met and coached from Venice to Trieste, the transfer took approximately 1hr 45 mins. We arrived to see the brand new Sky Princess in dock where the coach could pull up right beside her.
We were then checked in very quickly and efficiently. We were then given a medallion which will be our 'key' for the next 4 nights.
Lunch was a quick bite to eat in the Buffet Restaurant before the sail away party but we still managed slices of cooked pork and beef, rice with shrimp, steamed veg and a few chips on the side! We also enjoyed some lovey cakes for afters! The selection of different foods was fantastic.
The sail away party with Sky Princess featured vocalists and opera singers, the vocal group ‘Uptown’ sang songs from Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars and many more Motown artists. I was in a Balcony cabin B702 which had twin beds, a small shower but plenty of storage space, plenty big enough for 2 people.
Dinner on the first night was in one of the main restaurants 'Soleil' which is one of the two restaurants offering either traditional or anytime dining. The other dining option is Estrella. After eating 5 Courses, and then watching some vocal entertainment, I headed to bed in the most comfortable beds at sea, it truly was a great night’s sleep.
Day 2
After a thoroughly restful sleep I dined in the Estrella restaurant for Breakfast on deck 6. In this dining room they cook to order, there is a vast array of fruits, cereals, eggs, pastries, pancakes and cooked breakfast and you can order what you like!
Today was a sea day, there are plenty of amenities on board and the time passed so quickly and the lovely weather helped, the afternoon was spent relaxing on sun loungers on deck 17 whilst far out at sea, what a way to spend an afternoon.
Dinner was an evening in Bistro Sur La Mer which is one of the speciality restaurants, we were treated to a set menu, I went for the lightly cured smoked salmon, devilled eggs and balsamic vinaigrette with beef fillet de mignon for my mains. It was Superb!
We watched some live music this evening and enjoyed a few cocktails which I ordered on the medallion which meant the drinks come straight to you via GPS so no need to queue at the bar!
Day 3
I woke up to the beautiful views of Kotor, Montenegro where we had docked for the day. We'd arrived early around 4.30am where the sea mist covered the mountains so you didn't know where the mountains end and the clouds start.
After another very filling and luxurious breakfast in the Estrella restaurant we took a short tender of around 3 or 4 minutes and were dropped at the port. A short walk will take you into the old town where you can buy souvenirs to take home or just stop for a coffee and watch as people walk on by. Some passengers took advantage of the various excursions offered by Princess Cruises. Kotor is such a beautiful place, it is at the end of a Fjord and has the most amazing backdrop of the mountains on both sides. Well worth a visit!
We came back onto the ship just before lunch and decided to take advantage of the Alfredo's Pizzeria, the Antipasto Mont le Mare and Pizza Tarantina was extremely tasty! I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and this restaurant is included in the standard cruise price.
We were invited to a champagne reception in the Sky Suite where we got to sample canapes and have a tour around the sumptuous two bedroomed suite with the 1,000 square feet continuous balcony offering a 270 degree panorama throughout your voyage. If you have a family of 5 this is definitely worth a look with inclusive amenities and your own suite experience manager. Take a look at the video below!
Later on in the evening we went to see the world premiere of the Sky Princess show 'Rock Opera', I urge you, if you don't see any other entertainment, this is a must. Breath taking costumes, singing and dancing will have you spellbound for an hour…. I promise you will not be disappointed.
Day 4 - At Sea
I woke up to bright sunshine peeking through the balcony doors as we sailed the Adriatic, after breakfast in the world fresh marketplace, which is the buffet restaurant onboard, which gives you every type of breakfast you can imagine and what you can't see they'll get for you!
The Rugby World cup has been on whilst we've been away, to the delight of rugby fans onboard they played the England vs Australia game on the screen that is normally used for movies under the stars.
We sailed past the islands of Zante, Corfu and Kefalonia on our way to Athens whilst enjoying relaxing on deck 16 in the sun!
We attended a presentation about the Medallion class ships and what the ocean medallion can do for guests. The Princess experience is using the medallion as YOUR own personal account without having to visit reception once! The medallion can be worn as a wrist piece or a necklace and uses it as your key fob, when you are ordering drinks, notifying staff of any dietary/medical requests you may have when ordering food, if there are any special occasions onboard. You do not have to open your cabin door, it recognises you are near and unlocks the door. You can order food and drinks to be delivered to you via the GPS on the app.
Ocean compass keeps you and your party together by navigating where you are and who you are with, the app on your phone and Medallion using the ships interactive screens to show you where your friends and family are. There are many other features of this amazing Medallion technology, very impressive and makes the cruise experience flow smoother.
Our last evening was an enjoyable evening spent in the Estrella restaurant discussing our fabulous cruise onboard Sky Princess.
