Recently I was lucky enough to do a ship visit onboard Oceania’s Nautica. And to say I was impressed, would be an understatement. The outside of the ship does not do the inside justice. As soon as you stand on board, you know you are on an Oceania Ship, it was like walking through a luxury yacht club on the water. The whole ship had such a calm and relaxing atmosphere from the moment we boarded to the second we departed.
I have to start by expressing how impressed I was with the food onboard. Let me tell you Oceania take their food seriously and would definitely recommend this is a ship for the foodies! After being onboard and treated to lunch, I can see why they say they have 'the finest food at sea'.
All dining is open seating, with one guaranteed visit to each restaurant on board (which can be pre booked before you sail and is included at no extra cost). They also upload their menus onto their website, so if you are thinking about booking a voyage on this ship, I promise you, looking at the food will definitely make you want to come and book! Their Polo Grill is their Steak and Seafood staple and you will find this on every one of their ships. So, don't worry, you'll have your favourite, perfectly cooked steak no matter where you sail.
They also have casual dining, my favourite was 'Waves' their pool bar. This was a nice atmosphere with such an amazing view of the pool deck. They do daily specials such as burgers, hot dogs, sloppy joes and so much more! If your relaxing, exploring or watching the amazing views roll by, don't forget to grab yourself an Ice-cream, why not, you're on holiday?
The pool deck is the star of the show for me on this ship, it just screamed relaxation! The sun loungers were spaced out enough to offer some privacy to the guests, and the mattress pads are so thick I could see myself lying on one of these on a sea day enjoying the sunshine and not moving... Unless it was for a cocktail! I absolutely loved the double sun loungers, I think this is such a great idea for couples, or even a couple of friends.
On the top deck they have some activities that you can use, the crew also host group activities to allow guest to meet new people. These group games also allow you to play for points that you can spend onboard in the shops! We did of course have to have a little go on the games ourselves, and the shuffleboard was definitely my favourite.
After walking around the restaurants, the pool and having a little game break we were lucky enough to be able to view some cabins, and like the rest of the ship they did not disappoint. We viewed one of their suites, a spacious and modern space with an amazing balcony, and additional seating inside to still watch the world sail bail on those chillier evenings. We also viewed a balcony room. These rooms are still just as modern with that lovely indoor seating area by the balcony. The inside cabins were also very impressive. When you imagine an inside cabin, you think small, cramped and dark. This is the opposite. It has a very light and airy feel to it, and when standing in it, it did not feel overly cramped for 2. Oceania also have their own exclusive mattress toppers infused with Camomile for that perfect night's sleep!
They have many different bars, but the main one for the light entertainment is The Nautica Lounge. This is where they will hold subtle live entertainment. For example, a comedian, singer or pianist. Next to this is Martinis, another staple that you will find on all ships. They can make up to 30 different types of Martinis right at you table! All soft drinks and non-alcoholic drinks are included onboard, and alcoholic drinks are complimentary with lunch and dinner. However, if you wanted to upgrade to the All-Inclusive package, its only $30 per person per day!
