All about Jenny
I’m a strong believer that travel is one of the biggest gifts you can give to yourself; that’s why I enjoy my job as a Travel Specialist every single day. I’ve been working in the travel industry for a long time now, and still love nothing more than meeting new customers and helping them to find that perfect holiday. I began my career writing promotional travel brochures and had the opportunity to work abroad, before returning to the UK to become a branch manager for an independent travel agency. Now, I’m enjoying my role in Miles Morgan Travel’s Stroud branch immensely and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with many more customers.
I’ve travelled extensively over the years and I’ve been fortunate enough to tick off much of my bucket list! Far flung adventures always create fantastic memories, and I couldn’t pick one favourite because each was so special. My visit to China was certainly a travel highlight: I walked the Great Wall of China, saw the Terracotta Warriors and observed pandas with their babies in Chengdu from just a few feet away! Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru was another – I was in awe of the site of Machu Picchu and was honoured to meet the Uros tribe who live near Lake Titicaca in Peru. To name a few others, I’ve watched the gorgeous sunset over Angkor Wat in Cambodia, crawled through the Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam and walked on a glacier in Iceland, where I saw the spectacular Northern Lights. There are so many adventures to be had across the world and I love hearing about those I’ve book for customers.
I am an avid fan of wildlife and have spent much of my travels exploring the beauty of the natural world. I’ve been on several safaris in South Africa, Tanzania, Namibia and Kenya, and have been lucky enough to see the Big Five in the African wilderness! I’ve also visited Borneo and seen orangutans, the Borneo pygmy elephants and I took a day-trip to Sandakan Island, where I witnessed a turtle giving birth and helped to release hatchlings back into the sea. Seeing animals in the wild is a different experience altogether from the enclosures of the zoos in England – I cannot recommend it enough.
Closer to home, I enjoy a European city break: I feel lucky to live on a continent with so many brilliant cities on offer! Bruges and Berlin stand out to me, both magnificent cities that immerse tourists in their rich histories and cultures, as well as offering fabulous Christmas markets in the festive period. I always pick up a bargain or two from the stalls whenever I visit! I also loved Krakow, where I went underground to see the Wieliczka Salt Mines and the amazing salt sculptures, and also to Auschwitz, to pay my respects to those lost in the Holocaust. It was a heartbreaking trip but an important one, and one I’d really recommend for an eye-opening window into recent history.
Cruising is a new phenomenon for me, but after sailing with the incredible Silversea, I can certainly see the appeal! I boarded the Silver Moon, a stunning ship on which I stayed in a balcony cabin and even had my own butler. We visited a handful of Greek Islands as well as Cyprus, and on-board we enjoyed some of the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted, all sourced by the ports-of-call in the itinerary. It was such a unique experience and one I’d love to do again.
Recently I celebrated a special birthday in India, which was an unforgettable trip. I toured the magnificent Golden Triangle, taking in the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the new Wonders of the World. I also toured the palaces and forts of Jaipur, took a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi and spotted the elusive Bengal Tiger and a leopard at Ranthambore National Park. It was certainly a surreal moment, and one I’ll always cherish.
My future travels? I’d love to sample the delights of Amsterdam and of Japan, two fascinating destinations waiting to be explored.
I look forward to meeting both new and returning customers to our Stroud branch and help you plan your next getaway.
