All about Claire
I’ve worked in the travel industry for 33 years, starting my career as a trainee in Devizes in 1990. I’ve held various positions over the years, from a Customer Service Advisor to an Assistant Manager, and am overjoyed to now be a Travel Specialist for Miles Morgan Travel’s Devizes branch. I took a break from the industry for a year before applying for this role but found myself drawn back to it: booking holidays and contributing to the joy of customers’ trips gets into our blood! Nothing else compares to that feeling.
I feel extremely fortunate to have travelled to many destinations in my career, particularly in the years before I had children! I undertook a fantastic tour of America, experiencing a breathtakingly scenic coach tour across California, and visits to Miami, Florida Keys, New York and Las Vegas. From the art-deco and hipster, to the idyllic, to the hectic, I immersed myself in the USA’s hugely diverse hitlist, and had an incredible time. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip that I will certainly never forget. In that area, I’ve also visited multiple stunning Caribbean islands, and a twin-centre to the vibrant cities of Havana and Varadero in Cuba. It’s a fascinating part of the world that I’d love to explore more.
Other highlights of my solo travels include the chaotic and vibrant Hong Kong, the luxurious island of Mauritius, an iconic and fascinating trip to the Valley of the Kings and the temples of Luxor in Egypt, a Holyland tour in Israel and two incredible Kenyan safaris. I feel so lucky to have experienced these and will never forget the adventures I’ve had!
My ultimate travel highlight, though, was getting married in Sri Lanka. It’s such a wonderful and diverse country, with beaches, forests, mountains, cities, temples, and more wildlife than I ever imagined! We then took our honeymoon in the Maldives, which was postcard-perfect: unbelievably beautiful, and real escapism.
Closer to home, my second-favourite trip was a city break to Venice. It’s the most romantic city I’ve ever visited: elegant and bright, with each turn on the cobbled streets presenting a beautiful and iconic new scene to take in. The food, of course, was also delicious and the weather was perfect. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart, and I’d love to go back.
In recent years, my holidays have been more family-oriented: all-inclusive resorts on the Greek islands, or in Turkey or Portugal, work incredibly well for the whole family. We’ve also experimented with self-catering apartments and villas in the Canaries and Balearics and had a fantastic time. For more action-packed adventures, the magic of Disneyland Paris and the Port Aventura theme-park in Spain were also bit hits! Much more so than the eventful campervan holiday in France, in which we broke down. An unforgettable trip, that’s for sure!
In my opinion, holidays are the perfect way to celebrate special occasions. I took my eldest daughter to the fascinating city of Marrakesh to celebrate her 21st Birthday, and we enjoyed a wonderful Caribbean cruise to celebrate my husband’s 60th. If you and your loved ones are approaching a milestone and would like to celebrate with a memorable trip, please get in touch: I’d love to help you plan the perfect gift.
