All about Ellie
My love for travel started at an early age with family holidays. I was extremely lucky to travel widely as a child: from swimming with dolphins in Florida to visiting the volcanoes in Lanzarote, those lifelong memories definitely sparked my passion for seeing more of the world. Now, I’m loving working in the travel industry, and particularly for Miles Morgan Travel, a company whose ambition is to go above and beyond to ensure the perfect holiday for each customer.
In 2009 I was lucky enough to travel across the world to Australia and Indonesia, on a hockey and netball tour. We snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef, cruised under the Sydney Harbour Bridge on a speedboat, tried white-water rafting through the rainforest on the Tully River and took a helicopter ride over Cairns that dipped so close to the surface of the ocean that I could see the stingrays! It was unbelievable: I’d recommend Australia to those customers in search of an adventure of a lifetime. My team also won our first match in Sydney’s Olympic Stadium, an experience I’ll never forget.
Since then, I’ve made it my mission to visit new destinations as often as possible: I truly believe in living life to the fullest and broadening my mind through travelling. Rome, Reykjavik and Riviera Maya have been three of my top picks, all offering such contrasting experiences. Rome is such a beautiful city and has the richest history I’ve ever come across in my travels: I could feel it in every cobble under my feet. Reykjavik is entirely different but equally fascinating, with its stunning mountainous backdrop and mix of traditional Icelandic and modern architecture. For a completely contrasting experience, Riviera Maya boasts some of Mexico’s most beautiful beaches and a multitude of fabulous resorts. I’d happily go back to any of these destinations tomorrow!
More recently, I experienced my first ocean cruise with Celebrity Cruises, on their stunning ship, Celebrity Apex. With it being my first time travelling by cruise, I was unsure of what to expect, but there was no need for apprehension. It was a fantastic experience. Visiting multiple destinations was such a treat, and we only had to unpack our suitcases once! The Grand Plaza, the hub of the ship, was modern and stylish: an open-plan three-storey venue that brings everybody on-board together for events and creates a lovely, warm atmosphere. The food throughout was outstanding: the choice was vast, and the presentation was beautiful. The Cypriot- and Greek-inspired restaurant was my favourite, with a host of delicious traditional dishes. The venues on-board also offered a great range of entertainment for the evenings at sea. It was an amazing experience, with both adventure, comfort and style. I’d highly recommend a Celebrity cruise to anybody.
In my opinion, immersing yourself in different cultures, trying new foods, witnessing stunning scenery and meeting new people is invaluable. I’d encourage anyone to see as much of the world as they can and I take this ethos into my role at Miles Morgan Travel. It brings me so much happiness to help customers find their next adventure and would love to meet you in our Chepstow branch.
