All about Ellie

Since starting as a Travel Specialist with Miles Morgan Travel in 2022, I’ve learnt huge amounts about the industry. It was always my passion to work in travel: I finished my Travel and Tourism studies during the pandemic, and worked in hospitality to gain customer service experience until the restrictions on travel began to lift, and the industry had its revival. I spent those years longing to go abroad and planning holidays for when it was over: I never lost my enthusiasm to travel, or for the industry. I’m delighted to have finally made it!

To date, my most memorable and favourite trip would have to be Malaysia, and in particularly the Perhentian Islands: I tailor-made the itinerary myself to be able to cover the sights I was desperate to see. I reached Malaysia via a stop-over in Dubai, which was spectacular, but at 45 degrees Celsius I ended up spending a majority of the time in the iconic Atlantis waterparks. On reaching Malaysia, I started my trip in Kuala Lumpur, staying in a beautiful hotel opposite the Petronas Twin Towers and soaking up the luxurious facilities. I then flew to Kota Bharu and took a boat over to the Perhentian Islands: the treasure of the trip! They’re made up of two beautiful islands, and I stayed on the smaller one, at the Tuna Bay Resort, in a wooden villa situated on the stunning beachfront. There are no cars, and very few westernised attractions, so it’s perfect for those looking for a peaceful, relaxing, and healing experience. The primary way to explore the islands is by boat taxi or by walking through the jungle! It was a such an adventure. The main attraction is the spectacular wildlife: boat trips run each day to spot sharks and turtles in the wild, an experience that will always stay with me. I was heartbroken to leave, but my next stop, Batu Ferringhi, Penang, was a brilliant change of pace. I visited the Spice Garden, the night market, and embarked upon the Graffiti Tour in George Town, which was so interesting. I had a wonderful time. My bucket list is always growing, and next I’d love to visit Southeast Asia again, and stop off at the places I didn’t have the chance to visit last time.

Another unforgettable trip was in the summer of 2022. I spent a month touring Italy by train, tailor-making my own itinerary to include a hit-list of this beautiful country’s most iconic landmarks. I started in Venice – it was like a movie-set, I couldn’t believe it! – and ending in Sorrento, a fabulous location for sea-views, restaurants and shopping in the gorgeous little cobbled streets. The highlight of the trip, for me, was visiting the ruins of Pompeii, and learning about the tragic volcanic eruption that destroyed it. It was a humbling and moving excursion, that’s well worth the visit. In the afternoon, I treated myself to a wine-tasting on Mount Vesuvius, which certainly brightened my spirits! It was a fantastic day, and a trip that I’ll always be grateful for – it inspired me to finally grasp the opportunity to become a Travel Specialist.

Working at Miles Morgan Travel has also given me the opportunity to explore the ever-growing market of cruising. I’ve loved visiting ships and was even lucky enough to take an educational trip to Jersey, which really opened my eyes to the exquisite dining, service and entertainment that cruises have to offer. Every day I’m expanding my knowledge further, and I’m absolutely loving discussing and booking cruises for customers.
