I worked in a foreign exchange bureau in large retailers for fifteen years and have been in the banking and finance sector for my entire career: to transfer my skills to the travel industry in Miles Morgan Travel’s Abergavenny branch has been incredibly exciting. I’ve been like a child in a sweet shop! I enjoy arranging and organising each country’s currency and find them fascinating: my favourite is the Swiss Franc, for its thick paper that feels like an extra bonus. Needless to say, I’m very passionate about holidays and I love travelling, so this development in my career has been a real treat.

Despite only working for Miles Morgan Travel for two years, I’ve been booking my holidays in the Abergavenny branch since it opened a decade ago and have had some wonderful trips. Amongst my favourite places would definitely be Barbados. The Caribbean is a magical place for a fly-cruise, with glorious sunshine and the best beaches on earth: the colour of the sea was absolutely stunning. Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua were my particular favourites, showcasing the best of the Caribbean beauty. I flew into Barbados, and then boarded P&O’s Britannia – a large ship with great food and so many activities and endless entertainment on board! It was a fantastic holiday, and I loved the cruising experience.

For a different style of holiday, I really enjoy a city break, and Europe has an amazing array to choose from. Barcelona is one of my favourites: I always think of it as a beautiful, exotic London with a beach! It’s a vibrant city with delicious cuisine and a great energy. I’d really recommend the open-tour buses, hopping on and off whenever you fancy. There’s so much to see – the architecture and the deep history – that I spent two or three days ensuring I’d absorbed as much as possible!

Montecarlo is another special one, though a very different experience: a playground for the rich and famous, and a must-see for the tourists. I loved walking around the infamous Grand Prix track, and hearing the cars roar through the tunnel! There were Lambourghinis and Ferraris at every turn: it felt like a film set. It’s definitely a bucket-list destination that’s worth ticking off.

Finally, I adored Venice when I visited. It’s such a unique city, with a completely different feel to other parts of Italy, or even Europe! The architecture is so beautiful, and the absence of cars in the city’s main hub made for a very peaceful day. I had a lovely time strolling around the little paths by the canals, admiring something new at every turn. It’s the ultimate escape, and I’d recommend it to any customers in search of a picturesque weekend away!

Since working for Miles Morgan Travel, my bucket list has grown enormously. I’m excited to have booked a cruise around Canada and Alaska for 2024. It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, and I can’t wait to share my experiences on my return.
