Just a short flight from Bristol and you will soon find yourself fully immersed in the history and culture of Rome. I found Rome a very easy city to walk around, but if walking isn't for you then take one of the many hop-on hop off bus tours, a great way to see this wonderful city. A trip to Rome wouldn’t be complete without a tour of the city and one I can really recommend is the panoramic tour, which was very comprehensive. We enjoyed lunch at the hotel Villa Spalletti Trivelli, which was the private home of the noble Spalletti Trivelli family. Today it remains exquisitely furnished and serves as a very special boutique hotel, offering an experience that is truly unforgettable.

Whether it's a city break, visiting the lakes or a holiday by the beach - Italy has so much to offer! One of my favorite places is Bellagio on Lake Como. Surrounded by unbeatable mountain and lake views, Bellagio is charming with its winding cobbled streets full of bars, cafes and restaurants. My advice would be wherever you stay on the Lake, pay the extra for a Lake View room - you won't regret it!!

I was thoroughly spoilt on my trip to Lake Como. The hotels we stayed in and visited were truly stunning. My favourite had to be the Casta Diva Resort and Spa. The views across the lake will never cease to inspire as they are truly breathtaking. With easy transport options up and down the lake by local ferry, Lake Como is a great place to explore. My trip also took me to Milan for the day which is only 90 minutes away and home to some lovely designer boutiques, as well as some stunning architecture.

Rome is a mixture of modern and old, past and present go side by side, all the time. Whether you are in Rome for 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months, be prepared to step into the world's biggest open air museum. Rome is one of world's most photogenic cities. I stayed here on a 3 night break but wished I could of stayed longer. I literally managed to see most of the sights including The Vactican, the Trevi Fountain, St Peter's Square, Spanish Steps, Colosseum. I really wished I could have had that extra day to relax in cafés and watch the world go by.

There is something so magical about the beautiful Amalfi coast that people return year after year. I recently spent a week in Sorrento, a beautiful town, famous for its lemon groves and fantastic scenery. It is a great base to explore from - you can spend the day amongst the ruins of Pompeii, visit the cosmopolitan Island of Capri, climb to the top of Mount Vesuvius or simply let the world pass you by whilst you sip a Limoncello in the Piazza Tasso.
