6th June 2017: Over the last two decades, Dubai has rapidly become one of the most sought after destinations. With this, the city is constantly evolving and more and more fascinating places of interest are developed each year. Jo from our Malmesbury branch recently travelled to this glamorous city and tells us about her top new and exciting Dubai attractions which she believes will not only attract couples, but also families with children of all ages.
The Dubai Eye
2017 will see Dubai open the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. While it doesn’t currently have an official name, it is thought the structure will be called the ‘Dubai Eye’ or ‘Dubai Ain’. Situated on the newly created Bluewaters Island, just off the coast from the Jumeirah Beach Residence, the attraction will provide guests with views of the stunning Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis Hotel. Planned to stand at over 210m tall, the wheel will carry up to 1400 passengers in its 48 capsules.
Legoland Water Park
Designed specifically for children between 2-12 Legoland Water Park will feature over 20 water slides, a Lego wave pool and a raft river where you’ll even be able to build your very own custom Lego raft to sail along the river. While the main Legoland theme park here opened in October 2016, the water park has yet to open but is sure to be a showstopper when it does.
Dubai Canal
While already open, work is continuously taking place on the Dubai Canal. The work currently taking place will see the canal transformed even further with the addition of a shopping mall complete with rooftop park, four luxury hotels, 450 restaurants and a cycle path to link the Business Bay with the Persian Gulf.
Oberoi Al Zorah Resort
Just a 25 minute drive from Dubai airport the Oberoi Al Zorah resort in Ajman comes highly recommended. This hotel is brand new and had only been open a few weeks when we stayed there. With long, white sand beaches and green mangroves the hotel is nestled within 247 acres of protected forest. Oberoi Al Zorah has spacious rooms, suites as well as villas with private pools. This hotel gives you the perfect opportunity to soak up the panoramic ocean views while dining in one of its al fresco restaurants. The Oberoi Al Zorah is still expanding and construction on other resorts within the complex is ongoing. Included within this is the Al Zorah resort which will be a new mixed-used development which will include world-class hotels, residences, commercial space, leisure facilities, and an 18 hole golf course.
Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
This waterfront attraction will run the full 11km length of the Palm Jumeirah's crescent and you’ll be able to see it as you drive towards the Atlantis hotel. Featuring glass-encased cafes and restaurants you’re rewarded with views of The Palm, Arabian Gulf and the stunning Dubai skyline. Only five of the eventual 30 food trucks have been installed so far and a 6m wide boardwalk has been laid for pedestrians. There’s also a plan in place to construct four 1.6 km long promenades coming off of the Palm's centre trunk sure to make the Palm Jumeirah an absolute show stopper.
Dubai Frame
Visitors here will be able to take in the panoramic views of Old and New Dubai when the frame is completed. The project consists of two 150m high towers, connected by a 100 square metre bridge. Located at Zabeel Park, the project will also feature a museum on the ground floor.
