Recently I have just returned from an overnight stay on APT Travelmarvel Polaris and I was blown away. This ship joined the fleet in 2020 and is very new bright and contemporary in style. This ship offers Premium River Cruising at as marvellous value.
The reception area is set up is lovely with a stress-free check-in and no waiting around for our room key. We were introduced to James who was the porter to take us to out Cabin. We were allocated a cabin with floor to ceiling glass windows which drop halfway down to make a French Balcony, which means a beautiful view is never far away when sailing down a river.
My cabin could not have surprised me more. Spacious and equipped with everything you could have possibility need. Slippers, Bathrobes and Umbrella just in case it rains. The room was set up as a twin bed with plenty of space for one or two people to move around comfortably. The bathroom facilities provided were nothing short of a 5* Hotel. A large walk-in shower with plenty of vanity space to leave things out and not be in the way.
After a quick change it was off to the True North Lounge for pre-dinner drinks and to sample a few off the cocktails. This lounge is bright, airy with a relaxed feel. The lounge offers both early and late breakfast as well as lighter lunches and evening entertainment. The lounge is also a great location to meet people and watch the world go by or in the evening listen the entertainment.
Our next stop was dinner and this was taken in the Constellations Restaurant this is the main dining room and offers all four courses and is fitted for tables of two up to eight if you desire to sit with friends you have made on board. All courses are always different and always delicious. Even for a picky eater like myself, the food was always delightful. The menu will come with a Chef's Recommendation and this is local food for the area you are in.
If you are looking for a lighter meal why not head down to McGeary's, this is the Irish Pub at the back of the ship where you can treat yourself to for Happy Hour, before dinner and also to enjoy a lighter lunch or evening meal.
The Sun deck is a large open space with something for everyone. There is an area for sunbathing and a lovely, shaded area with loungers and deck chairs. The Jacuzzi is a must for the colder nights when sailing down the rivers watching the world go by. For the more energetic why not get your steps in on the walking track or head down to a small, fitted gym on the lower deck.
My overall option on this ship is the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. Everything was stress free.
