Recently, I was fortunate enough to be selected to experience cruising on the new Celebrity Apex ship, alongside Ellie from the Chepstow branch!
On our first day, Ellie and I flew into Amsterdam where we boarded the state-of-the-art vessel. The boarding process was a breeze, we were warmly welcomed by every member of staff on the ship which really set the tone for the entirety of the cruise. We were blown away by our Veranda cabin, which was so spacious and had a real luxury feel about it.
On our first evening, we enjoyed bottomless pre-prepared cocktails at “The Club”, before heading to the Normandie restaurant for dinner. We sampled the French cuisine, and I had the opportunity to try scallops and snails for the first time, it’s safe to say the snails weren’t my favourite! After a delicious meal, we made our way to the theatre, where we watched the opening acrobatic show. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiters, who were so attentive amidst the production going on around us.
We awoke bright and early on day two, feeling refreshed after a wonderful night’s sleep. We made our way to the “Ocean View” restaurant for a buffet breakfast, where I enjoyed a full English, and some pancakes to finish. Service was impeccable once again and as soon as we sat down, juice and coffees were already on their way. Around midday, we were given the opportunity to do a galley tour, which allowed us to meet the incredible chefs and kitchen staff on the ship. We also were allowed to go behind the stages in the theatre to see the dressing rooms and where the magic happens when staff prepare for each performance.
On day three, after waking up from another restful night’s sleep, we headed back to the “Ocean View” restaurant for our breakfast to start the day the right way. We had the opportunity to get off the ship and explore the destination that we had docked at for the day. We got a free shuttle bus provided by Celebrity into Weymouth, which was only a short 10-minute journey.
Once we arrived in Weymouth, we explored the town and did a bit of shopping, enjoying a lovely sunny afternoon stroll along the beachfront. Late afternoon, we boarded the ship to get ourselves ready to go and watch the evening show at “Eden”, a unique experience! We got to watch the theatre cast hang from the ceilings whilst an artist in the background created a painting. In the evening we put on our dancing shoes and headed to a silent disco in the club which was a great chance to have some fun with everyone on board.
On our final day, we docked into Cobh, enjoying our final breakfast on the ship and preparing to disembark. We had a few hours to explore the town to see the sights that it had to offer, before coming back to the ship for lunch. After a whirlwind few days, we disembarked Apex and prepared to fly back into Bristol.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend a Celebrity cruise enough. Everyone we met on board went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable stay and I look forward to helping my customers book the same experience.
