Having recently come back from CLIA conference in Amsterdam, which was looking at river cruise ships and finding more information about them and the various companies that sail along some of the main European rivers.
As well as looking at ships, I was lucky enough to stay on the APT ship Polaris and what I can say is, what a stunning presented ship, all the staff are welcoming and ever so helpful. The cabin is well appointed and has plenty of storage, it has all modern equipment, hair dryer, flat screen television.
The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower, which was an overhead rain type shower. The bed and pillows were so comfy, it was one of the best night’s sleep I had in a long time and have been trying to find the pillows ever since.
The food at dinner time was 4 course menu, where there is a good choice of starters, soups, main and dessert. The chef gives recommendations from each course and a wine recommendation to go with the dinner. If you have any dietary needs, then the staff can attend to that and make vegetarian dishes or offer gluten free bread. Breakfast is an amazing array of food in buffet, cereal, fruit, cooked as well as chef freshly making omelette.
The lounge bar is spacious and has seating for groups or couples, there is an extensive plush furnishing and a dance floor for the evening entertainment. This bar is at the front of the ship on the upper deck, there is a smaller area at the rear of the ship. Whilst travelling down the river there is a sun deck, where you can watch the world go by and have a dip in the whirlpool or play on the putting green.
There is a maximum capacity of 182 guests. The ship has 16 cabins that have smaller windows which are based on the lower deck, and then 76 various size cabins that have floor to ceiling windows, these category cabin types are situated mid deck, upper deck then on upper deck you have the owner's suite.
