We were lucky to be invited by Fred. Olsen to visit their Flagship, Bolette, for the day. Although it was a wet and windy day, going on board this beautiful ship certainly made up for the weather! After a quick embarkation we went to the Observatory which has the floor to ceiling windows for great views. We were treated to pasties, cake & tea which was the prefect start to the day.
The decoration around the ship is so beautiful and a lot of thought has been put into creating great spaces. Fantastic facilities in the Spa & Gym. The outdoor pool has a retractable roof, so if you are unlucky with the weather, that shouldn't stop you having a dip!
I was also able to view most of cabins on board; Interior Cabin, Ocean View Cabin, Premier Cabin, Balcony Cabin & the Olsen Suite. I was very impressed with the size of the cabins, they were all very spacious and all had a sitting area as standard and it did not feel cramped. They have a terrace cabin, which has a sliding door, straight on to the promenade deck, this is a unique type of cabin offered by Fred.Olsen.
There's a great choice of restaurants to choose from, the poolside restaurant for late breakfast and lunch for those who would like to eat al fresco. The View is the main buffet, something I thought was really good is that they seat you in the buffet restaurant for all meals, so you don't have to worry about getting a table!
There are 2 speciality restaurants to choose from which can be pre-booked for £10pp, or £15pp if booked onboard. Vasco is one, which offers a taste of India with Goan traditions. The other speciality restaurants is Colours & Taste which offers range of Asian food from Japan, Thailand, China & Philippines.
The main a la carte restaurant serves, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were lucky enough to have a 3-course lunch here and the food was lovely!
In the evening, you have the Neptune Lounge which is two-tiered theatre where all shows are held. However, there are plenty of other bars to choose from including The Morning light Pub & Lounge, Ocean Bar & the Piano bar.
Overall, I had a lovely day on board the Bolette but 1 day was just not long enough to thoroughly enjoy what Fred. Olsen cruises has to offer. If you have any questions about Fred. Olsen or want to find more about the ship, pop into Bath or send me an email to [email protected].
