The Occidental Cala Vinas is situated in the beautiful quiet Cala Vinas that is southwest of Majorca.Only 25km from Palma airport and a very quick taxi journey to Magaluf. After a comfortable short flight with Easyjet and a minibus transfer, we arrived at the very well-presented hotel Occidental. I was immediately impressed by its beautiful, clean, perfumed reception area and friendly welcoming staff.
Occidental has a lovely calm relaxing feel immediately which was helped by the glorious October sunshine. The rooms were very smart, stylish and clean. There was a wonderful powerful shower accompanied with luxurious shampoo and conditioner and lovely fluffy towels to enjoy. Also provided free of charge were some cute toothbrushes and other little essentials and a fridge with bottles of water. The massive bed with wonderful comfortable pillows and bedding guaranteed that I would press snooze on my alarm a little too often.
The room was wonderfully air-conditioned and yes, it was needed in October. A highlight was having a lovely balcony to sit and relax on. The wifi was fast and reliable and it didn’t disappoint when I needed to talk to my important people back home. The hotel has a fantastic splash pool for lively little ones and a larger pool for a swim or just to cool down in. There are plenty of sunbeds and a poolside bar that offers a great selection of drinks including freshly prepared tea and coffee. The Gym looked well equipped, but I cannot say that I used it, as I mentioned earlier the bed was very comfy.
The beautiful beach of Cala Vinas can be viewed from the hotel which has direct access to it with sun loungers available to hire and lovely soft sand. The sea was extremely calm and gentle, perfect to paddle or swim. There is entertainment to enjoy if you want to have some more fun. I was really impressed by the staff at breakfast who made a special effort to high-five the younger guests and make them smile and excite them for the upcoming games they will provide.
The food, my favourite topic! The Breakfast was really enjoyable and plenty of it. Loads of choice from a full English-style breakfast to the more continental including fresh tasty Pastries and fresh fruit. Lunch and Dinner were also very enjoyable and included a variety of cuisine. From pasta, pizza, meats, fish and a good selection of desserts there was always something for me to enjoy. Again, lots of choice for soft drinks and alcohol. It was lovely to enjoy eating and socialising on the outdoor terrace while listening to the waves below.
If you are looking for a fun evening away from the hotel then I would certainly recommend the Pirates Adventure Dinner Show. It was incredible and the talented gymnasts left me in complete awe and on the edge of my seat with their fearless talent. I would most certainly go back to the Occidental Cala Vinas. I would happily return with all my family. Although I’m not sharing the bed!
