Singapore and Bali, the trip of a lifetime! I have one word… Wow!
I was lucky enough to go on an incredible trip to Singapore & Bali. I spent 3 nights in Singapore followed by 3 nights in Bali and I have so much to talk about!
I flew out of London Heathrow with Singapore Airlines. The airport itself was very efficient and quick. After check-in, we flew through security and hardly had to queue! I did then get to experience the Singapore business lounge which was a nice bonus. Unlimited food and drink and comfy chairs, what more could you want? It also had showers and wash areas!
The flight itself was very comfortable! The seats were spacious, and I was shocked by how great the in-flight entertainment was, there was so much choice. The food was predominantly Asian cuisine and delicious. You could say the hours ‘flew by’ It went as well as a 12-and-a-half-hour flight could go, maybe even better!
Day 1 in Singapore... amazing but exhausting.
We landed at 7.30 in the morning and safe to say I was tired but very excited. Singapore Airport is very efficient, and I was out of the airport within an hour of landing ready to start the holiday. On arrival at The Clan Hotel, I was in awe of the hotel's views and how central it is. We had a tour of the hotel, and my favourite part must have been the rooftop infinity pool! One thing I would say is if landing early in the morning, try to get an early check-in or even pay for the night before because my room wasn’t ready until 3pm.
At 1pm we went to lunch in Chinatown. We all went out to eat a local dish that is very popular in Singapore, Soy chicken and rice in a restaurant called Cheiw Kee noodle house. It was only a 5-minute walk from the hotel and very delicious. After this, my room was finally ready and the views were incredible!! That evening we went to Lau Pat Sat for a Hawker Dining experience where we got to taste a variety of foods and local favourites.
Day 2 in Singapore… time to explore!
This morning our guide took us around all the different areas of Singapore, including Chinatown and Little India. It was so nice to get a feel for the culture. For lunch, I had the famous chicken and rice from Hawker Chans, the World’s First Hawker Michelin-starred meal. I even got to meet Hawker Chan himself! Very very tasty.
After lunch, we got to go to The Intan – A Private Home Museum with Alvin Yapp which was such a unique experience and a great way to learn about Singapore culture and history in a more up close and personal setting. Then I did what had to be one of the highlights of the trip, Vespa side Car experience around the old town. The tour guides/drivers were so friendly and knowledgeable, I would recommend this to absolutely anyone going to Singapore!!
That evening I got to experience the Gardens by the Bay tree light show and it was so magical. Lovely thing to do and free to watch. Now, did someone say Singapore Sling?? Yes, I went to Raffles to have a famous Singapore Sling. It was delicious and great atmosphere. To be transparent with you it was the most expensive cocktail I’ve ever bought but I can now say I have had a Singapore sling in the place it was invented!
Day 3 in Singapore… I didn’t think it could get any better, I was wrong.
Today I got to experience a new hotel on Sentosa Island. Sentosa Island surprised me. The beach was lovely, it was a lot of fun travelling by cable cars, Universal Studios Singapore, zip wires and many other things to do. You won’t get bored that’s for sure. I even did the Sky Helix which takes you up in the air and slowly rotates for around 10 minutes while you chat and can even take some food and drink up there with you. We checked into the Oasis Resort Hotel, which is beautiful, and then got taken around the sister hotels. My highlight would probably be The Outpost Hotel which has a beautiful rooftop bar and pool which had live DJ’s and cocktails. A perfect way to end your stay in Singapore.
I couldn’t believe how close everything is in Singapore! You can walk to most places from The Clan in less than 30 minutes and get to Sentosa Island in only 25-minute taxi.
Bye Singapore… Hello Bali!
Day 1 in Bali… paradise!
After only a 2-hour flight from Singapore, we landed in sunny Bali. Only a 25-minute transfer to Nusa Dua and we were in our hotel! The Westin Nusa Dua was lovely. Beachfront, lovely pool and a beachfront restaurant/bar. It felt like paradise.
This evening we went to Potato Head beach club which was a lot of fun. Full of music, swimming pools, beaches, drinks, and food. After this, we headed into Seminyak to get a feel for the bars and restaurants and there is definitely a lot to do and has a great lively atmosphere. Some lovely locally owned places full of friendly people. What makes it even better is a taxi from Seminyak to Nusa Dua only cost £11!
Day 2 in Bali… Jam-packed! What. A. Day.
I got to experience a lot in Ubud today! Starting with a waterfall followed by the Tegalalang Rice terrace with the famous Bali swing, followed by a visit to Alaya Hotel in Ubud. A hotel that is like its own sanctuary but still right in the middle of Ubud. Just perfect! From here it was a short walk to the Monkey Forest where I got up close to lots of monkeys and got to see them in their own habitat.
This evening we ate at the beautiful Melia Hotel in Nusa Dua and all I can say is wow wow wow. We had a table right on the beach with personal coconuts, each with our names carved into it. The hotel itself is tranquil and in a lovely beachfront location. It even has a swing IN the sea!
Later that day we went to look around the Laguna Hotel, Nusa Dua. What a stunning hotel! They have even just opened a beachfront bar with an infinity pool onto the beach and large sunbeds, just paradise! They also offer a brunch there which is all you can eat and offer such a variety of foods; I definitely recommend this.
Day 4 in Bali… the last day
Today I got to look around the hotel Alila Seminyak before heading home. The sea views in this hotel are unreal! They have a main pool with a restaurant beside it and music playing along with another pool. The hotel is located next to Potato Head so it is in a great location for exploring Seminyak!
And then I got on a flight home via Singapore Airport! So, that was my trip to Singapore and Bali! Safe to say as soon as I got home, I wanted to go back. I cannot recommend these two destinations enough, it really is as incredible as it looks/sounds so if you’re even slightly thinking about it, do it!!
