I had an amazing opportunity to stay on board AmaWaterways AmaSerena for one night during the CLIA riverside conference.
We were welcomed onto the ship with open arms and a crew full of people who couldn’t do enough to make our experience memorable. On first impressions, the first thing I noticed was the impressive decor. A grand stairwell opposite the reception desk and a beautiful lift that went between all floors except the top deck. I had to try it out just once!
We were then given our cabin key cards, luggage was taken from us and we were escorted to our cabins. Only a few minutes later and all of our bags were with us in the cabin! The cabins were incredibly spacious, we stayed in a twin balcony cabin which had a balcony with furniture on, as well as a floor to Celina Juliet balcony which is perfect for the colder days!
After exploring and finding out more about this ship, I have to say the part I was most impressed with was the outdoor pool on the top terrace. It was an incredible size for a riverboat and even had a bar so you could get a drink whilst relaxing in the sun.
Before dinner was a pre-dinner cocktail hour which was held in the lounge bar. There was a live pianist and large windows which really set the mood for the evening.
For dinner we were in the main restaurant and had 5 courses and each one was exceptional. With a menu to pick from along with a list of what the chef recommends, you really are spoiled for choice. As an alternative, on each sailing, guests can dine in the Chefs Table free of charge which is a 7 course tasting menus prepared carefully by the chef on board. The dining room is intimate with an authentic feel, a must do on anyone’s cruise!
Light entertainment followed by a live singer provided a lovely way to end the evening. Then back to the cabin for a good night’s sleep on the comfy beds.
Breakfast the next morning was incredible. It’s a 2-course breakfast with the first being buffet and second is made to order from a menu. The buffet was great with a wide selection of food and all you can eat, what more would you want? They then gave us a menu and took our orders for made to order items such as eggs, waffles and even steak!
Overall, staying aboard AmaSerena was a beautiful experience with impeccable service. It is truly a river cruise to be experienced; why not try it in the summer months and make use of the beautiful pool!
