We had an early start to our trip, meeting at Bristol airport at 4am. We then had fast track bag drop and security which I highly recommend to avoid the queues at this time of the morning. We then had some breakfast before heading to our EasyJet flight. After a quick 2 hour flight, we landed in Palma and headed off to our home for the next few nights- Occidental Calas Vinas.
We were greeted warmly and had a tour around the hotel, which was beautiful and very family- friendly, not to mention the great location. We then spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach, which you can access directly from the hotel. There was plenty of space to sunbathe around the beach and pool areas, and a poolside bar where you can enjoy a drink (or two) whilst you do so. We then met up for dinner at the hotel and enjoyed our meal from the buffet style restaurant at the hotel.
The next morning I woke up early and watched the sunrise on the rocks down by the pool and it was absolutely breath-taking, the perfect start to the day. Breakfast was continental buffet style, perfect for the busy day of hotel visits ahead.
The first hotel we saw was Zafiro Palma Nova. A luxurious, family friendly hotel with swim-up pools, and penthouses with private whirlpools! This hotel had 4 on-site restaurants ranging in cuisines from Sushi to Steakhouse. This hotel had children’s swimming and play areas hidden away from the main area, which helped create a relaxing atmosphere.
The second hotel was the Iberostar Jardin del Sol Suites, an adult only hotel. All rooms are sea-view and have at least a small balcony, the higher grade rooms have private whirlpools facing the sea! The hotel has a separate area called the Star Prestige Club, for guests wanting that little bit more. Guests staying in Star Prestige rooms will have their own reception, bar, and pool area, that regular guests don’t have access to. We enjoyed a buffet lunch at this hotel and enjoyed the range of delicious, freshly cooked food.
The final hotel was Fergus Style Tobago, a 5 star hotel in the heart of its resort. A gorgeous, modern style hotel with an infinity pool and sky bar on the top floor which guests can enjoy for 50euros a day. The rooms looked comfortable with complimentary robes for guests inside. There was a main restaurant area that offered a range of cuisines, alternating nightly. This hotel was also only a short walk from the beach, so many of the rooms had a gorgeous sea view.
We then headed back to the Occidental for a swim in the pool (whilst watching an interesting game of pool basketball being played by other guests in the hotel) before heading out to see the infamous Pirates Adventure Show. We had VIP (very important pirates) tickets for the show, so we had a table at the front of the stage. All guests can enjoy a meal of chicken and chips and refillable soft drinks as part of the ticket price, alcoholic drinks are an extra charge. The show then began and it’s safe to say we were blown away by the unreal talent performed for us! A dazzling acrobatic show with pirates flying over the audience on silks, fire breathing and so much more, I really would recommend this show to people of all ages. We then headed back to the Occidental hotel for a good night’s sleep, the beds were so comfortable, perfect for after a busy day.
The next day we sadly had to pack up and check out, a swift process from the lovely reception staff. Heading back to Palma airport in plenty of time, as there is an extra security check. After a quick browse through duty free it was time to fly home. A brilliant trip to Majorca, definitely a destination I would love to go back to in the future!
