I was lucky enough to go to Portsmouth and visit Spirit of Discovery. I can truly say I was blown away; it is light airy and has plenty of space for all customers on board in the communal areas. We were greeted with smiles from all the staff and nothing was too much trouble. When going around the ship, there are lifts in central places as well as slopes and rails to make everywhere accessible for all guests.
The lounge area at the front of ship and is light and spacious, plenty of seats around the windows with lots of natural light. There is a library, where you can leave books or borrow books, along with an area where you can do jigsaw puzzles. At the back of the ship is a very spacious pool area with hot tubs, should you just wish to have a sunbed, there are areas on at least four decks where you can relax and enjoy the views as you sail through the Mediterranean or Atlantic to The Canaries.
When visiting the cabins, they are all outside with a balcony, should you need an adapted cabin on here there are about 20. All cabins are bright, spacious and have plenty of storage, should you need twin beds they can be separated. If you are staying in a suite, you have champagne in your cabin on arrival. On board there is plenty of choice of places to eat, there is an Asian and seafood restaurant, you would need to pre book these. Whilst on board I was lucky enough to eat in the main restaurant, all I can say is, if I was on here for 2 weeks I would need to try not to eat too much! My lunch was delicious.
Other facilities on board are the gym, theatre for evening shows, spa which has a sauna, indoor pool and massage room offering various types of massage, also hair salon and manicure stations. A bonus of travelling with Saga, they will pick you up from home and take you to the port, then when you return, they have a very well organised meet and greet system to take you back home.
