12th February 2016: I've just returned from a wonderful few nights on board the beautiful Silver Spirit, cruising around Southern Italy and Sicily.
I was amazed at how light and spacious my veranda suite was. Unlike other cruise lines, the bathroom included not only a full-length bath, but also a separate walk in shower. This was a definite luxury after being out on an excursion all day, plus the spacious lounge and walk-in wardrobe finished the suite off perfectly.
With a teak deck and outdoor furniture on the veranda, it was the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, before heading out for the day.
When it comes to food, my favourite place to eat on board has to be the 'Seishin Restaurant'. For lunch you can eat in this beautiful restaurant without a reservation, but in the evening you will need to book, with a $40 charge per person. It offers an extensive choice of sushi and sashimi; all prepared fresh, as well as the 'Hot Rocks' experience. This is a preheated volcanic rock brought to your table, allowing you to cook delicacies such as steak, pork, lamb, fish or prawns exactly how you would like them, right at your own table! It's definitely an experience I would recommend and worth every penny.
The Panorama Lounge is the place to be in the evening for a pre-dinner drink. Enjoy fine wines and cocktails combined with live music; so good I thought I was listening to a CD. Out on the pool deck you’ll also find a pool bar and grill, with plenty of places to relax with a drink, making it the perfect place to watch the sun go down.
My highlight was the stunning town of Trapani, the most important town on Sicily’s west coast. After a morning sampling award winning olive oil, I got to walk this beautiful town. The architecture and history was just mind-blowing.
Silversea cruises offer spacious suites, delicious cuisine, luxurious public areas and a number of wonderful destinations, what more could you want for your next holiday?
