Liam's Lapland Santa Experience Day Trip
An early morning start at 6am we departed Bristol airport to head towards Swedish Lapland - Pajala , the airport check in was full of festive spirit and magical elves bringing the Christmas joy to all.
The flight took about 3 hours 10 minutes and was full of lots of fun exciting activities such as drawing competitions, Karaoke for children and even a game called pass the toilet roll down the aircraft! A first for me! After much fun we arrived into Pajala which was -20 degrees! The only aircraft of the day, this made the day trip a VIP experience already! We took the "Santa winter village bus" to the winter wonderland, when we arrived the scenery was breathtaking and very peaceful with fluffy snow everywhere.
When we arrived, we got changed into thermal suites which were provides, which kept us even warmer for the freezing temperatures outside, we were put into different groups for the day, we were in yellow group and got to experience the below activities:
Snowmobiling Experience:
We got our helmets on and got given a demonstration, before zooming off around a circular track in a group of 4, the snowmobiles were very modern and very quick! You need a driving license to complete this activity, but a must to do!
Huskie Sleigh Ride:
My favourite of the day! The breathtaking Husky sled ride, through the forest, which was lit by twinkling lights in the trees was amazing! We wandered in and out of forests, you really get a glimpse of the terrain and surroundings around you, it was very peaceful!
Reindeer Sleigh Ride:
Another Sleigh ride, but much slower! Rudolph and his friends pulled us through an enchanting forest on a traditional reindeer-drawn sleigh, we followed the guide who held a warm glowing lantern, which was spectacular.
Meet Santa Claus:
We got to walk the secret path through the forest and follow the twinkling lanterns to Santa's log cabin home. This was the main highlight of the day and truly magical! We had warm berry tea and biscuits before crossing the bridge to Santa Log Cabin, where we found out we are on Santa’s Nice List!
There were fire pits throughout the day which kept yourself warm, lunch provided, I would recommend bringing some money so you can buy some magical souvenirs from the gift shop.
This trip is a must for all families wanting a Magical Day trip near Christmas! Contact me if you have any questions or would like to know more about this special day!
