First Impressions
Date : 27/06/2018
I was really excited to revisit the Beachcomber Trou Aux Biches resort. The last time I had visited, it was very different! Nine years ago, the hotel was completely rebuilt, and the facilities were upgraded from four to five star deluxe. In my opinion this rating is definitely deserved.
The entrance to the hotel was stunning. You’re immediately greeted with tranquil water features and ocean views out to the sea. The resort is stunning, and guests can see the wooden floors which go over the water and down to the poolside which looks directly over the beach; rated one of the best beaches on the island.
Accommodation
The rooms here are extremely spacious and have been completely restyled and now follow the style of many other Beachcomber resorts which incorporate a traditional Mauritian theme.
All rooms here feature an outdoor rain shower(except for the junior suites on the upper floors), en-suite bathrooms, and a private terrace or balcony as standard.
The Trou Aux Biches has added two & three-bedroom villas to its repertoire, which come with the added benefit of a personal butler who is on hand to help with anything you may need. The butler’s service is available 8am-2pm every day and includes a full maid service. Upgrade to half board dining and you’ll get added benefits such as free BBQ platter for self-cooking which includes a selection of meat and fish, a fresh salad bowl with a choice of dressings and deserts and for a small charge, the butler will even cook for you! These villas also have no check-in/out restrictions, so you have access to your room for as long as you need, perfect if you have a later flight.
The resort now also offers beachfront suites which have their own private pool and are very spacious indeed; simply stunning.
Restaurants
Trous Aux Biches has six restaurants and two bars each offering their own unique dining experience. I would recommend staying at the resort on at least a half board basis so you’re able to experience a night at each of them.
The restaurants here include Il Corallo, an Italian spot, Blue Ginger, which serves Thai cuisine, Mahiya, an Indian resturant, Le Deck, which offers fish dishes, and La Caravelle and L’Oasis which offer international cuisine.
The Mahiya is amazing, definitely my favourite, I would highly recommend it!
Another new service the resort is now offering is a make-your-own-cocktail experience. Why not try it before dinner one evening? It’s great fun and even better, they taste great too!
Spa
The spa here is tranquil, and begins with a herbal tea and a refreshing towel. Its idyllic setting allows guests to relax and unwind by the large reflective pool as well as indulge in a treatment or two in one of its 17 cabins. Not only this, the spa comes equipped with two saunas, two hammams, a balneotherapy room, showers and a hairdressing and beauty parlour.
If you want to feel fully rejuvenated and refreshed, don’t forget to book yourself some time out here. You won’t regret it.
Land and Water Sports
As with many of Beachcomber’s other hotels, the Trou Aux biches has a huge selection of land and water sports to try. Not only can you choose from windsurfing, snorkelling and everything in between, you can also take part in a game of tennis on one of the hotel’s tennis courts or try your hand at bocciball.
Golf lovers can look forward to an 18-hole golf course, the only one in the north of the island, and just a five-minute drive away. The hotel can arrange bookings for you, with discounted green fees and a VIP service.
Facilities
This hotel has good facilities for families and those with children can choose a family suite which contains two bedrooms and can sleep up to two adults and three children. They are incredibly spacious and I was lucky enough to experience this room type for myself.
A babysitting service is offered here and is free from 1pm until 4pm for children between the ages of 1-3 years. Children’s clubs and clubs for teenagers are also available here and are open until 11pm; great for parents if they want to enjoy a night to themselves.
Final Thoughts
The Trou Aux Biches is absolutely stunning. The service here is simply exquisite. For me, it ticks all the boxes for a five-star deluxe hotel. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and if you’d like to talk to me about this hotel or others on the island, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
