On arrival at Southampton city cruise terminal, we were met by Neil, our Celebrity representative. Passing through their terminal is very straight forward. Security was quick and easy and we soon arrived at the large lounge area before boarding the ship.
As I looked around the Silhouette I was reminded on how amazing and beautiful Celebrity ships are. I have been fortunate to sail with Celebrity cruises before. The Silhouette has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment which means she is looking absolutely stunning.
The service onboard was very special, everyone we met simply wanted to please. Everyone was very friendly.
One of my favourite parts of the ship was the Lawn Club. Here you could watch the world go by sitting on real grass. Large screens played films, live music played on the grass, you could sip a cocktail on the comfy sofas or take a picnic blanket and enjoy afternoon tea. You could even hire a private Cabana to enjoy for the whole day.
The food on board the Silhouette was amazing. During our visit we were treated to a tour of the ocean view café which is a buffet style venue with the most incredible food. You can select from a wide variety of dishes. The cakes looked incredible!
We ate in the main dining room where we enjoyed a beautiful three course meal with wine in the most stunning surroundings. It was a lovely place to eat. There is a wide selection of bars and restaurants on offer. Speciality dining did have a supplement. A very interesting venue was the interactive dining experience. Le Petit chef which was housed within Qsine. This brings your table to life with animated fusion of entertainment and dining.
My favourite bar area was the Martini bar. The bar top is made from ice, it was a lovely area to sit back and relax whilst enjoying your favourite drink.
The Silhouette has two pool areas, one outside with hot tubs and a beautiful solarium indoor pool which is only for adults or children over 16 years old. This was a tranquil area which also had a small healthy eating food venue. Whilst visiting the solarium I noted that this area would be suitable for guests if they had a disability as the pool area had a hoist allowing all guests to enjoy the pool.
During our visit we looked around a range of staterooms. All were decorated with beautiful relaxing colour schemes. They had a luxurious feel yet homely. The staterooms cater for every need and the attention to detail is incredible.
While looking around the ship it was apparent that there were so many areas where guests could escape to and relax and unwind. It has a well-stocked library and many sitting areas which are beautifully designed.
The Grand Foyer is at the heart of the ship, it has a grand sweeping staircase where you will often find musicians or DJs playing. It also has a baby grand piano in the foyer. I resisted the temptation to play! The whole ship has beautiful artwork and statues dotted around the different areas.
Celebrity Silhouette is perfect for those that want a cruise with a 5 star hotel feel. It is truly luxurious. The ship is mid-sized and can sail with approx. 2800 passengers which means it still has a homely yet spacious feeling. The abundance of amenities on board means there is always something to do.
