I am very fortunate to have been at the CLIA river cruise convention hosted in the beautiful city of Budapest. The city itself is full of history, stunning architecture and of course the amazing Danube River. A must see for any city lover. I was very lucky to spend the night onboard Riviera’s MS William Wordsworth ship, and as soon as you stepped on board you were greeted by the smiling faces of its hard-working crew. The ship itself exudes traditional luxury from its marble floors to the dangling chandeliers.
Once we had gone through the quick and simple check in process, we were guided to our French balcony standard suite. As soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by the sun shining in through the balcony window and a gorgeous view of the Liberty Bridge. The cabin itself did not disappoint; the sleek dark wood and the marble side added to the luxury feel the rest of the ship had. The bathroom was light and spacious with a walk-in shower, and a lovely addition of the NUXE toiletries. The tea and coffee facilities in the cabin were perfect for an early morning or late-night drink in the privacy of your cabin, while enjoying the beautiful views.
After settling in our suite, we had some time for an exploration of the ship. We were met by beautiful artwork, a calming spa treatment room and even a hair salon. The top deck has a range of seating to sit and enjoy the views as you sail along the rivers. There is a mini golf putting green and a small splash pool to cool off during the warmer days. It is a wonderful place onboard to take a few peaceful moments to yourself, relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
Later in the evening, we were treated to a three-course meal in the main restaurant, where there was plenty of choices. They cater for all dietary requirements guests may have. Your wine glass was never empty, and the crew members were happy to help in any way they could. After our meal, we continued the evening in the Panorama Lounge and bar, where the service was quick. It’s the perfect place for a drink and to enjoy the evening entertainment, which varies from vocal pianists, local musicians to folk dancers.
After a wonderful night's sleep, on some great pillows, we headed back to the main restaurant for a buffet style breakfast. There really was something for everyone; yoghurts, fruits, pastries, or a full English breakfast. They even had a set menu that included a vegan breakfast, avocado on toast and eggs benedict. The waiters were on hand with fresh tea and coffee to start your day off nicely.
We used our last bit of time to pop down to see the gym and wellness facilities once more before we disembarked the ship. The gym is a great space for anyone that wants to use any spare time you might have while onboard or treat yourself to a massage or any of the other treatments they offer.
