I have just returned from a trip to Southern Sardinia, staying at the Forte Village Resort for 3 nights, but oh my was it worth it! My journey started with a train service from Stroud to London Gatwick, in which I was nervous as not really used local transport to an airport but everything ran smoothly and on time and was very convenient going straight into the airport. My 2hr 30 min flight from Gatwick to Cagliari was with EasyJet and there was plenty of staff on hand to help and we whizzed through baggage and security. On arrival in Cagliari, we were then transferred to the Forte Village Resort which took about 45 mins in a luxury van.
Forte Village Resort offer supreme seaside luxury for couples and families alike. Nestled in 116 acres of stunning gardens with a beach that boasts fine white sands lapped by the Mediterranean Sea (I have to say the clear sea and white sandy beach took my breath away). It offers eight hotels that are four and five-star, 13 luxury villas that offer utmost privacy, each having a secluded private location and its own private pool, and the ones that we looked at were absolutely stunning. The Villas represent the pinnacle of space, style and service with expansive floor areas, Mediterranean-style state-of-the-art furnishings and a discrete British-style butler to provide personal services from unpacking bags to preparing breakfast and arranging table reservations for dinner.
I stayed in the Five Star - Il Castello, which is situated in a secluded corner of the Forte Village Resort, yet it is only a few meters from that gorgeous white sandy beach and clear blue sea. Between the beach and hotel, there is a beautiful freshwater heated swimming pool. The room was a Superior Mare which has been fully refurbished and either as a Double or Twin bed, bathroom with shower and tub and a balcony that looks out over the sea. The hotel boasts a chic cocktail bar and the Outdoor Restaurant Cavalieri surrounded by greenery. This is where we enjoyed the morning sunshine each day for breakfast where there was a wide choice of fresh cooked omelettes, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, waffles, pancakes, cooked breakfast, a range of juices, something for all tastes, all accompanied by gentle piano music.
Food & Drink - with a choice of 21 Restaurants and 14 Bars, there is a world of flavours and dining experiences for all. I enjoyed evening meals at Le Dune, Ristorante Sardo and Ristorante Brasiliano all offering a wonderful meal. The Piazza Luisa is a fabulous venue where you can listen to some excellent music. My two favourite bars were Bar Aqvatica located between the sports area, Forte bay and the beach and Tiki Beach with a tropical style and views of the landscape. The resort has 11 swimming pools, from the Baia Delle Palme Aquapark to heated infinity pools.
I enjoyed the Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa where I had the Thalassotherapy which is based on the revolutionary principle of sea water at different temperatures and different saline densities. Set in a wonderful garden the thalassotherapy course consists of six pure Sardinian seawater pools - a great way to detox, regenerate & enhance. I must say though, some of the pools were more appealing than others but glad I did all six.
Leisureland - There are basically only two rules: "have fun" and "don't stop". Bowling, Disco and a Go Kart track. An Oasis for all Children is Wonderland - Barbie, Mario's Village, Arts & Crafts, Theatre, Vegetable Garden, Children's Pool and Nursery, all to keep those young ones happy.

If you ever do not feel like walking around the resort, there are constant golf buggies going around to take you to different parts or your hotel will call one for you to come and collect you. All in all, I did not feel like I was in a resort as everything was so spread out and must say the resort had it all.
