We have been invited for A Taste of Ambassador weekend cruise from Bristol to Tilbury. We sailed on beautiful Ambition, and I stayed in Standard Plus Twin Inner cabin no 8012.
When I first walked in, I noticed the crew brought my suitcase up to my room while I was wandering around the ship. They also left a welcome letter on the bed with safety information, the weather, dress codes for events onboard, opening hours of different venues and where to find them, and a general cruise description. There was also a card with my dinner reservation details, which was a lovely, personal touch. It was also my birthday while I was sailing, and I got a birthday card! Thank you, Ambassador Crew!
Even though it was it was a standard inside cabin I was surprised how spacious it was. There was a huge picture of a horizon just above the twin beds, so it did not feel claustrophobic. The beds could be converted to a double, and two upper berths, so this cabin could accommodate up to four adults in total. There was so much storage! A lot of space under beds for suitcases, a large wardrobe with 18 hangers, few shelves and cupboards, and a desk with drawers.
I could definitely make myself comfortable in this cabin for longer than just a weekend! In addition to this, the cabin was very well equipped. I think we can all agree that tea and coffee facilities are very important – they are complimentary in your cabin and replenished daily. There was also a bottle of water for an additional charge of £1.65 and a 24h room service menu for only £8.95 per tray.
Towels and flannels were provided, I found beach towels in one of the cupboards, a hairdryer, safe, flat-screen TV – which, in fact, I did not have enough time to use as there were so many things to do onboard. Due to health and safety concerns, there are no irons in cabins, but there are laundry rooms where you can use them if you need to. There were two UK sockets and two USB ports by the desk, and a shaver socket in the bathroom. The bathroom itself was on a small side, however, it was well designed – the shower was curved, so it was easy to get in and out and didn’t take that much space. There were few shelves next to the sink for my make-up and cosmetics and the toiletries provided, made by Taylor of London, smelled delightful!
My cabin was at the front of the ship, and I could feel the movement slightly. It did not bother me; in fact, I enjoyed it! But if you’re suffering from seasickness, I would recommend a cabin in the middle of the ship, as some of our team staying in the same area did not feel too great with the motion.
Accommodation grades on Ambition classify as Standard, Superior, Premium and De Luxe. We’ve had a tour around the ship and visited other cabin categories, they are all the same design style but differ in shapes and sizes. I’ve noticed Segafredo espresso machines in higher category cabins which is also a lovely recognition to higher-paying guests, providing a more personalised quality product – a great coffee! 1051, a Superior Junior Suite had a walk-in wardrobe, a sofa bed and a bath (which for some might be a deal breaker), 7146 a Premium Suite was slightly larger, and it’s had a corner sofa bed, and Ambition’s absolute best – De Luxe Suite. We visited cabin 8218, right at the back of the ship, which basically looks like an apartment, with separate living and dining rooms and a big, corner balcony. Beautiful.
Overall, whichever cabin you choose, you won’t be disappointed. They are alike in style, spacious, pretty and comfortable. Although I would highly recommend at least an Ocean View category, especially if you’re planning on sailing for longer, than just a weekend!
