5* Boutique Hotel – Regina Dell’acqua Resort
Overview
Boutique Hotel – Regina Dell’acqua Resort
Star Rating: *****
This fishing village has managed to retain its picturesque Greek island charm, growing in harmony with its surroundings. The same can be said for the Regina Dell’Acqua, a charming boutique hotel nestled into the rocks, one that affords unspoilt views over the crystal-blue waters below. With just 38 rooms, the overarching theme here is one of peace and tranquillity, an oasis of calm amongst the popular Greek islands.
Guests to the Regina Dell’Acqua are welcomed like friends. The hosts here believe in the ancient art of ‘philoxenia’, or ‘hospitality’, a custom protected by the Greek god, Zeus. It’s a characteristic that permeates throughout everything the hotel offers, starting the moment you set foot into its grand, marble-floored reception area.
The rooms here are simple yet stylish, elegant yet understated, providing a comforting space in which to relax and recharge. Choose from double rooms with a garden or sea view, equipped with a king-size bed and Jacuzzi. With all guest rooms, luxury bathrobes and toiletries are included as standard.
As one would expect from such a prestigious retreat, the food and drink here is perhaps unrivalled in Skala. Taking centre stage is the Amethyst Hippocampus restaurant, serving up exquisite Greek and Mediterranean cuisine for breakfast and dinner. The Dell’Acqua Pool Bar draws guests towards its shaded dining area, offering a welcome respite from the Greek island heat and serving up fabulous lunches with views of the Ionian Sea. For something a little special, the hotel also offers guests the opportunity to indulge in a spot of private dining, with a poolside gazebo that will accommodate up to eight diners. It’s also the perfect spot for a romantic candlelit meal for two under the stars.
With regards to facilities, this hotel does the simple things brilliantly. A stunning secluded beach with carefully placed sun loungers and parasols offers you the chance to dip your toes in the crystal-blue waters, whilst a spa, massage and wellness area will help you to rejuvenate. For those who want to stay in shape whilst on holiday, the hotel’s fully equipped gym will provide all the mod cons you’re used to back home.
A selection of restaurants and shops can be found nearby and the centre of Skala with its bars and nightlife is 750m away.
