All about Simeon

I started my career in travel in the late 90’s and have spent the last twenty-three years building up plenty of experience; I’ve worked across multiple fabulous travel companies, including Bakers Dolphin Travel and TUI, as well as working aboard multiple cruise ships too. I’m so excited to have joined Miles Morgan Travel’s Clevedon team. It feels like coming home to join a wonderful, close-knit family business, and I’m proud to be working for a company who puts the customer at the heart of everything they do.

My top destination I’ve ever travelled to would be Sorrento, in Italy, a picturesque coastal town on the Amalfi Coast. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Sorrento half a dozen times with my family, starting our trips when I was a teenager! It’s known for its brightly-painted, steeply-stacked houses that fill the town with colour, and their antique-collecting cliff-top hotels that have gorgeous views out to the Mediterranean Sea. The town itself has winding, cobblestone streets and alleys, bejewelled with fashionable boutiques, restaurants and cafes, as well as delicious gelato bars. Traditional Italian cuisine is infamous globally for a reason: in Sorrento you can enjoy plenty of fresh seafood, pizza, pasta and meat dishes, with a glass of local wine or limoncello, and the world’s best handmade pistachio ice-cream!

The atmosphere is relaxed, romantic and laid-back, perfect for couples or those seeking a tranquil getaway. It strikes me as a very artistic community; there are numerous galleries, studios and festivals celebrating music, dance and art, and the traditional lace-making and wood-working industries of past generations are still thriving today! There’s also a rich cultural heritage, with evidence of ancient civilisations and historic churches; I’d absolutely recommend a trip to the Cloisters of San Francesco, a stunning sight that’s still host to many weddings and events. Pompeii and Herculaneum are also nearby and well worth a visit, and boat trips to Capri and Positano make for a great day out too. In the evenings, the sunsets over Mt. Vesuvius are really spectacular, the finishing touch of the Sorrento experience. If you’re interested in exploring this corner of the world, I’d love to help you get there.
