My passion for travel began at an early age with yearly family holidays to Austria where we enjoyed taking cable cars and chairlifts up into the beautiful mountains, staying in cosy chalets, watching traditional dancing and eating delicious food. I loved studying abroad for three months in the beautiful country of Belgium as part of my university course and had the opportunity to travel across this amazing country and experience what everyday life was like.

This inspired me to start travelling to more distant places and I enjoyed group holidays to both Sri Lanka and Costa Rica and this made me even more determined for travel to become a major part of my life. My decision to live and work in the country of Japan was the best decision I have ever made and this country was my home for fifteen years and has a special place in my heart. From the quirkiness of Tokyo, to hiking in the Japanese Alps and up Mt Fuji, experiencing diverse festivals, beautiful temples and shrines, bathing in outdoor onsens and staying in ryokans; this is a country like no other and an experience I will never forget.

During my time living in Japan, I was very fortunate to have countless opportunities to travel and visit so many of the Asian countries and other parts of the world. From the natural wonders of Australia and New Zealand and the stunning islands of the South Pacific to cruising the Galapagos Islands and hiking the Inca Trail in Peru, there have been many highlights.

I have stayed in a remote longhouse with local people in the Borneo jungle, visited the orangutans, watched the sunrise over Angkor Wat, walked the Great Wall of China and sailed in a traditional boat through the islands of Indonesia. The stunning scenery of Alaska and the views of Mount Everest when walking towards the Base camp in Nepal will always be memorable. A place that holds a special place in my heart is the island of Boracay in the Philippines where I said my wedding vows on a beach at sunset.
