One of the things I love about Titan River Cruises is that all your meals are cooked on board and prepared using the finest ingredients, which are often bought from local farmers markets, so you really do get a true flavour of the places you visit.

Full Itinerary

Day 1 UK - Budapest

Titan’s door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Budapest. On arrival, we embark our ship.

Day 2 Budapest

A tour of the two-sided city of Buda and Pest is first on the agenda this morning. We explore the Parliament building, St Stephen’s Basilica, the world’s second-largest synagogue and the Palace district before you’re free to discover the city for yourself. Perhaps wander through the gates leading to the beautiful Vajdahunyad castle for a picturesque walk.

Day 3 Kalocsa - Mohács

Our morning starts in the Hungarian town of Kalocsa, known as the paprika capital of the world. Perhaps join our optional excursion, which gives a fascinating insight into the traditional Hungarian way of life. We start with a visit to the Folk Art House before learning all about regional spice at the Paprika Museum - including a taste of typical Hungarian cuisine. Later on, we enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride followed by a performance of Hungarian horsemanship - a fascinating experience.

Days 4-5 Belgrade

We arrive in Belgrade this afternoon; and while remaining in dock until tomorrow evening, we have plenty of time to discover the ‘White City’. On our included walking tour on day 5, we unfold the city’s chaotic past as we learn about the legacies of Habsburg, Ottoman and Socialist rule. We also take in the Republic Square, Saint Sava Cathedral and Kalemegdan Fortress. In your spare time, perhaps wander along the lively pedestrian boulevard flanked by historical buildings.

Day 6 Cruising the Iron Gates

Today is dedicated to scenic cruising as we glide through the famous Iron Gates. This spectacular passage is made up of narrow gorges and wide basins. Make full use of the ship’s panoramic restaurant or sundeck to get the best views.

Day 7 Vidin

Resting on the bend of the Danube, Vidin offers beautiful riverside views. We start with a city tour this morning, taking in the legendary Belogradchik Rocks - a vast area of huge sandstone formations varying from red to yellow. The sprawling town square is dominated by an enormous communist-era monument.

Day 8 Rousse

One of Bulgaria’s most elegant cities, Rousse is full to the brim with interesting architecture, leafy squares and city museums. Perhaps choose to join us on our optional city tour, which will introduce you to the ruined fortress - a Neolithic settlement turned into a Roman naval centre.

Day 9 Tulcea

We arrive in Romania this morning as we dock in Tulcea. The city itself is home to some great museums and a 19th century church, but we’re using it as a base to explore the famed Danube Delta. Our included excursion will see us bob along through forests with a local guide looking out for birds and wildlife. During the summer, 350 species of bird gather here, so it’s a real must for twitchers.

Day 10 Cernavoda (Constanta)

We reach the Romanian shores of the Black Sea to discover Constanta, a lively city with beaches, parks and lakes. You can choose to join us on a city tour this morning, or explore under your own steam. The richly decorated Orthodox Cathedral of St Peter and Paul is particularly interesting. For spectacular views over the port, the beautiful casino is your best bet.

Days 11-12 Oltenita - Bucharest

Disembark and begin our city tour of the Romanian capital before checking in to our hotel for two nights. You’ll have the remainder of the day and tomorrow to explore the city for yourself. Layered with history, spend your time strolling around the city’s best bits: museums, parks, splendid Orthodox churches, the opulent Parliament palace, concert halls, religious monuments and more. Alternatively, on day 12 join our optional excursion - a VIP visit of Ceausescu’s house, to learn about the country’s communist legacy.

Day 13 Bucharest - UK

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. On arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
