Tuscany is the place most people imagine when thinking of rural Italy and it is an area that will not disappoint on any level. Flying to Pisa, which you can do from many regional airports, gives easy access to the open roads and hilltop towns that are the very essence of Tuscany. Sumptuous hotels, villas and even self catering apartments in converted farmhouses allow you to surround yourself in quintessential Tuscany. If exploring great hilltop towns and visiting vineyards are not enough I would recommend a day here and there taking full advantage of the superb rail system to whisk you into the heart of the great tourist attractions in both Florence and Sienna. The car will give you great freedom in this region but with some clever planning we can cut out the car and do so much of the area by train.

The Italian lakes are one of my favourite destinations and I would be delighted to share my passion with you. A great destination for amazing views, food and people, I try return to Italy at least once a year and my top tip would be to eat where the locals eat in the small villages taverns. I highly recommend Volterra, which is a beautiful, small town in Tuscany. Give me a call and I can help you discover more hidden gems.

The first question is always ‘did you see George?’ and unfortunately the answer is no. But I was fortunate to view Mr Clooney’s beautiful home from my boat on the lake. I was also lucky enough to stay in and visit some of the most beautiful hotels and would recommend a lake view room wherever possible. Bellagio is a small and charming village with narrow cobbled stairways full of shops and other delights along the lake’s shore. As ferry transportation is so easily accessible, the Lakes are a great place to explore independently.

Just a short flight from Bristol and you will soon find yourself fully immersed in the history and culture of Rome. I found Rome a very easy city to walk around, but if walking isn't for you then take one of the many hop-on hop off bus tours, a great way to see this wonderful city. I would recommend pre-booking a timed entrance to the Vatican/Sistine Chapel to avoid the queues. Give me a call and I will be more than happy to help your plan your Rome break.

A trip to Rome wouldn’t be complete without a tour of the city and one I can really recommend is the panoramic tour, which was very comprehensive. We enjoyed lunch at the hotel Villa Spalletti Trivelli, which was the private home of the noble Spalletti Trivelli family. Today it remains exquisitely furnished and serves as a very special boutique hotel, offering an experience that is truly unforgettable.

Whether it's a city break, visiting the lakes or a holiday by the beach - Italy has so much to offer! One of my favorite places is Bellagio on Lake Como. Surrounded by unbeatable mountain and lake views, Bellagio is charming with its winding cobbled streets full of bars, cafes and restaurants. My advice would be wherever you stay on the Lake, pay the extra for a Lake View room - you won't regret it!!

I love Italy as it is so diverse. From the stunning lakes and mountains in the north, vibrant cities like Rome,Venice and Florence, the beautiful countryside of Tuscany and the coastal regions of the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily, there really is something for everybody. I have to admit the fabulous food keeps me returning to this lovely country.
