Aswan’s ancient Egyptian name is Syene. It is the sunniest city in Egypt and has a distinctive African atmosphere. Aswan is small enough to walk around and graced with the most beautiful setting on the Nile.

Aswan also has its Pharaonic offerings (Philae temple and the unfinished obelisk), a modern miracle (the High Dam) and the Elephantine Island, which is timeless with artefacts dating from the pre-dynastic period onwards.

An excursion to the beautiful and renowned Abu Simbel temple is a must - available by air or road from Aswan.

There are no words that can really describe this incredible hotel. Royal, luxurious, colonial and celebrity … still not enough.

The hotel is real beauty. Elegant architecture, smart and original royal and colonial decoration, the essence of great history is all over the hotel. Once you are there, you will be amazed by everything. When you leave, you won’t believe that you really stayed there! You might feel it was just a wonderful dream, but actually that is how it feels!

The hotel doesn’t only offer a luxurious holiday, but also a perfect location to visit Aswan famous Pharaonic sites.

The Nile River view is stunning and you must take afternoon tea or a drink on the famous terrace where Haward Carter revelled his discovery of King Tut’s tomb!

The hotel suits singles, couples and families.

Join the royals and celebrities and stay at the Old Cataract hotel.
