Alexandria PDF Print E-mail
Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria is the pearl of the Mediterranean sea: the second capital of Egypt; the residence of the European community in Egypt; the former Egyptian royal family’s favourite resort; the Roman city which was the setting for the stormy relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony.

Alexandria can be visited in a day trip from Cairo (2 hours by train), however, to enjoy Alexandria fully you will need at least a stay of three nights. Enjoy your first day visiting the major sites – the Greco-Roman museum; the Catacombs; Roman amphitheatre; the Citadel; and the Royal Jewelry museum. On your second day take a trip to El-Alamein (1.5 hours drive) to visit the World War II cemeteries and museum. Finally make your last day unforgettable by talking a tour on foot of the royal gardens of Montazah - and remember nothing will compare with enjoying a seafood meal and a walk along the seafront promenade
