Full Itinerary

Day 1: Pretoria

Visit the Union Buildings, which were designed by the famous colonial English architect, Sir Herbert Baker. Overlooking the city, these buildings now house the offices of the President and Ministers. Dominating the Church Square is the impressive bronze statue of 'Ooom Paul (Kruger)', with his Boer fighters. Also worth a visit is the Voortrekker Monument, which commemorates the Great Trek of the 1830s.

Day 2-4: Rovos Rail

Rovos Rail Journeys recreate the spirit of travel in bygone days in the privacy and comfort of the most spacious and luxurious train suites in the world. The beautifully rebuilt classic trains of Rovos Rail travel through the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo and the scenic wine lands of the Cape to link South Africa’s administrative capital with Cape Town, at the tip of the continent. Handsome wood panelling, period Edwardian features and button-leather seats ensure an ambience of elegance and grandeur. Single-sitting meals are served in the charming atmosphere of the dining car with a choice of a full cooked-to-order or tempting buffet breakfast each morning, and four-course meals at lunch and dinner accompanied by a selection of excellent South African wines.

Deep sofas and wingback chairs in the lounge car are perfect for a gentle doze or for pre-dinner cocktails, and at the rear of the train an observation car makes the most of the views with a unique open-air balcony.

Day 5-7: Victoria Falls

In November 1855 the famous Scottish explorer and missionary Doctor David Livingstone became the first European to set eyes on what the natives called ‘the smoke that thunders’. He remarked that the scenes were so lovely they ‘must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight’.

Visit the fascinating Livingstone Museum, which is entrusted with an array of original memorabilia, including many personal letters, before continuing to the falls themselves. Discover the natural beauty that is quite simply beyond belief as you witness the sheer force of the water cascading over 90 metres to the bottom of the Zambezi gorge.

3 night stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Day 8-10: Hwange National Park

Located in the remote part of Hwange, The Hide is regularly voted as the Best Tented Safari camp in Zimbabwe.

Right next to a watering hole, it is the perfect location for game viewing, walks and relaxing in the lounge or hide, to watch the wildlife go by. With a giant table for dining together, or an alfresco option under the Acacia trees, you can enter a completely different world.
